Fixional: Now Seeking Submissions of Short Stories

Updated: They are now charging fees to submit. We would no longer recommend submitting to them.

Fixional is a new online literary platform dedicated to publishing short fiction and supporting authors by compensating them for their work. While authors can submit to Fixional for free, readers pay to access the Fixional library. Then, authors are paid each time someone reads their story. Fixional publishes all kinds of short stories, both traditional and experimental, and they occasionally consider novels, novellas, poetry, and creative nonfiction too. Even though they aim to publish a wide variety of work, they still have preferences. They like literary stories that are carefully crafted, fashionable, unique, and meaningful. Any offensive content should have a purpose.

Fixional publishes new stories every week, so they’re always looking for submissions. They split the royalties from each story with the author, and every author whose work appears on Fixional also receives payment upon publication.

Fixional doesn’t have any submission requirements. Authors of short stories can submit as many pieces as they want, and there aren’t any restrictions on word count, style, or form. Authors of poetry, creative nonfiction, novels, and novellas may also submit to Fixional, but keep in mind that they primarily publish short stories.

Fixional accepts submissions online, not by post or via email. They accept previously published work as long as it’s identified as such; however, they prefer work that hasn’t appeared elsewhere. Simultaneous submissions are fine.
